In Timed Qualifying Strawberry Racing’s, Josh Rowledge posted the fastest time, ahead of McLean in 2nd and Edgar in 3rd. Come the heats on Saturday, and both Rowledge and McLean both shared a win each, whilst Edgar secured a 3rd and 4th.
On Sunday, McLean was rewarded by his strong heat results, by securing Pole Position for Final 1, with Edgar starting directly behind in 3rd. A four kart battle for the lead throughout the race kept onlookers glued, but it was Rowledge who held his nerve to take victory in the opening final. Despite leading the early couple of laps and almost securing a break away from the chasing pack, Edgar was unable to maintain her lead, dropping to 4th, however incurred a 1 lap penalty after the race after an incident on track. McLean couldn’t convert his pole position into a win, and picked up 4th.
In Final 2, as karts took the track for the warm up lap, in typical Rowrah fashion, the heavens opened. Every driver bar one were on slick tyres, however it was the SCM driver, Jacob McComb who took the gamble before the race to opt for wet tyres – and what a gamble that was! McComb took a comfortable victory, lapping every single driver along the way. Edgar finished 2nd on the road, but was handed a 10 second penalty for a nose cone infringement, as was McClean who finished 7th at the flag, but thankfully had enough of a gap to the 8th placed driver, therefore kept his position.
