MCLEAN EDGES CLOSER TO CHAMPIONSHIP WITH ANOTHER WIN

In Timed Qualifying, it was Cian Shields who took Pole Position, ahead of Edgar in 2nd and Daniel Bolton in 3rd. McLean was 2 tenths shy of the pole time, and had to settle for 5th.

With the rain falling hard around the North Wales circuit, it was Coles driver Ivan Lomliev who took the honours in heat 1, ahead of Bolton in 2nd and Shields in 3rd. McLean gained one place to move up to 4th, however Edgar dropped down to 6th.

In Heat 2, McLean was victorious climbing 4 positions, ahead of Lomliev in 2nd and Walker in 3rd. Edgar (5th) was followed home by pole man Shields in 6th.

On Sunday, the weather wasn’t much better, as the rain continued to fall making driving conditions just as tricky. In the Pre-Final, McLean dominated proceedings, taking the win by over 4 seconds to his nearest rival Lomliev in 2nd. Edgar climbed up 3 places to 3rd, whilst Shields took a 10 second nose cone penalty and had to settle for 6th.

With the track starting to dry but more rain threatening at any point, the drivers gambled and opted to remain on wet tyres for the Final. A good decision paid off, as all 3 Fusion drivers made their way to the front of the field, lead by Shields. Once the gap was so superior to the rest of the grid, the 3 drivers squabbled for the lead, however it was McLean who came out on top, as he took victory ahead of Shields and Edgar. Following the race, both Shields and Edgar were awarded 10 second nose cone penalties, dropping them to 3rd and 4th, promoting Walker to 2nd.
