In Heat 1, McLean got off to a great start to his day, taking victory ahead of Coles Racing driver, Ivan Lomliev and Shields. Jessica Edgar who started from Pole Position finished in 4th, with recent new comer to the team Zac Meakin in 8th.
Rashan Chigorimbo won the second race of the day, dominating proceedings ahead of McLean in 2nd who made up 13 positions. Shields also had a strong run through after starting down in 13th, to finish 3rd – also posting fastest lap along the way. Meakin finished in 5th, proving the outright speed for the Mini’s throughout the team was looking very positive for the remainder of the day. Edgar (13th) was unfortunate to pick up a nose cone penalty, after she had originally finished in 9th.
McLean secured Pole Position for the Final, and an extra 3 valuable bonus points for his Championship hopes, after he headed home a Fusion 1,2,3 in the last heat of the day. As well as fastest lap for McLean, Meakin was 2nd, and Shields made up another 6 places to 3rd. Edgar started down in 14th, but at the line she had climbed 6 places to finish in 8th.

The Final

In the Final, McLean lead from the start followed by Shields, whilst the battle for 3rd was between Chigorimbo, Meakin and Freddie Spindlow. As the race progressed, the front 2 broke away with a comfortable lead, with Spindlow in 3rd. Further down, Edgar was in 6th, just behind team mate Meakin, come the half way point. A slight mistake from Shields allowed McLean to break free in the closing stages of the race, whilst Meakin, Edgar and Kieran Conchie all battled for 4th right until the last lap. At the flag however it was McLean who was victorious after taking a dominant win over team mate Shields. Chigorimbo was 3rd, ahead of Meakin in 4th, however Edgar’s (12th) disappointing weekend ended with another nose cone penalty after crossing the line in 6th.
